Aside
from the red sandstone natural arches, this park features some
of the most spectacular scenery around. Matter of fact, the entire
region surrounding Moab
Utah is so gorgeous it could be declared all National Park.
That would not be a good idea, because we all love the abundant
off-roading opportunities & cool places we can camp with
our vehicles.
A
small 4x4 dirt road called Cache Canyon, leads from the
Delicate Arch parking lot. One lane dirt road heads east & winds all throughout the hills. On the map, the road appears to end up overlooking
the Colorado River. This land just outside of park boundaries
is considered BLM lands & primitive camping on the backroads
is a possibilty.
Plenty of free primitive camping options all around this outside of this National Park. Colorado Riverway undeveloped camping is free along the highways: Hwy. 279 & Hwy. 128. There are information kiosk with rules near Goose Island on Hwy 128, approx. 1.4 mi from Hwy. 191.
Gemini Bridges Road (on the opposite side of the highway) has great views over Arches National Park. Steep and rugged trails climb up the face of a cliff, Gemini Bridges Rd leads to backcountry camping, mountain bike trails and off roading routes.
