• National Parks will not allow you to cut firewood or even gather down wood. You must bring your own firewood or buy theirs.
• State Parks may not allow you to cut any or gather down wood. Check with rangers for specifics.
• National Forest allow cutting of wood with a permit in posted areas. Campers can usually collect down wood unless otherwise posted. If you're headed to the Sierra's the best places to find wood & good secluded camping is the National Forests.
