Heart Bar Campground named after one of the area's historic cattle ranches.

Pines & more space avaiable at the primitive camp area. But permits are required!

Feast your eyes on "Greyback" himself, San Gorgonio Mountain at 11,502' elevation. Come up from the smoggy basin of Redlands and suddenly The San Gorgonio Wilderness sits adjacent to the Heartbar area. Heart Bar Campground is right in the middle of it Big Bear - all it's great hiking & off roading trails. Aspen Grive Hike, Mount San Gorgonio Trailheads & much more. Also, this camp is near the headwaters of the Santa Ana River.

Forest Road #1NO5 leads deep into the
San Gorgonio Wilderness Boundaries

Nice big shady camp spots & well spaced out. Best seclusion is to grab a primitive yellow post spot.

behind the regular campground is a dirt road #1NO5 that leads to well laid out primtive style campsite.

The sign reads "No OHV" which means peace & quite most of the time.

Make sure to see the wildflowers blooming in Spring & early Summer.

Yep, sorry to say folks, but this is still the Los Angeles basin & you are not far from the pollution once you see this view from the end of the dirt road looking east.
