Dispersed, open, free camping is allowed along National Forest backroads with a free fire permit. Most campsites are located on dirt roads. Some might be passenger car accessible, in the drier months. Mud and deep snow is typical for this High Sierra region. High clearance or 4x4 vehicle may be needed on certain routes; or during snow or wet conditions. No bathrooms, no table, no garbage collection. Pack out more than you packed in. Keep the forest clean.
