This way above average rainy season has brought greenery & wildflowers statewide. The normally golden brown hills are covered in delight. High elevation deserts are still blooming & the weather is warming up nicely. Go out for a day trip or the full weekend. Mountain getaways nearby: Wrightwood, Pine Mountain, Chester & Lewiston. Desert destinations include: Mojave, Death Valley, Joshua Tree

The are few years when California's reservoirs are full & the rivers are flowing well. This year is the exception! If you've always wanted to try out a mellow day float on the river, or feel the need to take on new adventure, then river rafting may be the outdoor recreation for you. This year is prime time for white water action. Many National Forest offer camping closeby & river guides are booking now for summer months.

Headed up to Mammoth for some Springtime snow skiing? Make this small town a perfect stop for lunch. The junction to Death Valley, Hwy 190 intersects here, which is a needed break after all that desert driving. Small cafe is open daily. Nice oak lined primitive camping options nearby in the side canyons, within Inyo NF & the creeks are flowing great this year. Bring your fishing pole.
