This large tree-less reservoir is on the edge of the Sierra Nevada foothills, near the Sequoia National Forest. It's a basic lake for fishing and boating, but nothing extremely scenic. Altho it is situated next to the Sierra mountains, there are minimal vegetation and trees around this man made reservoir. A few oaks scattered about at best. Anything else is planted. This place is at the southern end of the Sierras, next to the Lower Central Valley.

Tule Recreation Area and Rocky Hill Recreation Area have 2 boat launch ramps.

Surface area = 2,450 acres. Lake Success = nearly 4 mi long w/ 30 mi of shoreline.
Lake can contain 82,500 acre-feet of water when full.
Army Corps of Engineers construction completed 1961.

Porterville is west of Lake Success, 8 miles. Hwy 190 is considered the gateway to the Giant Sequoia National Monument.

The tiny Tule River brings the snowmelt to the San Joaquin Valley, for agriculture use & more.
