The Highway 101 cuts thru Salinas Valley & is home to the Salinas River. This area is largly agricultural and has no campgrounds along the river, expect for the seaside where the river hits the ocean. Paso Robles wine country is where the Salinas River starts & flows north along highway until it meets the Monterey Bay near Castroville California. There are several sites, such as historical California missions & wineries in this region, but be warned summer months can get very hot.
