Dolomite Campground – Las Vegas

This is the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area on the westside of Las Vegas, Nevada. A mountain range with serious elevation, bristlecone pines and a small snow ski resort. Yes, less than an hour from Vegas – out in the mighty Mojave desert. Humbold-Toiyabe National Forest encompasses these rugged hills. Dolomite campground, near Mount Charleston offers camping among alpine views and nice vegetation.

Granite mountain peaks surround open spaces and desert views; plenty of pine trees at this campground, and so close to the Vegas Strip. Flush toilets and all. Highway 156 is the main road out here. It’s totally a cheap Vegas kinda option for a fun weekend without hotels!

Loop trails offer great hiking in the region. Horseback riding and mountain biking are also very popular. Area is also known as “SKY ISLAND” – home to rare, blue butterflies and the oldest organism on earth!
