  • The apple town Julian at the junction of highways 78 & 79 is a small community in the local San Diego mountains. Very little snow & lots of lodging options here.
  • The Anza Borrego desert holds the small community of Borrego Springs. The largest state park has a visitors center located here.
  • Driving south on Hwy.S2 to view Blair Valley, Canon Sin Nombre & Piedras Grandes you will need to hit the dirt roads. A backcountry map is advised. For a real adventure, cruise over to Baja, Mexico for a few days at Guadalupe Canyon Hot Springs. A primtive camp ground area that takes almost 40 miles of off-roading.
  • Swing back through the quaint delightful border town of Tecate on your way back to civilzation.
