- Driving all the way around Lake
Tahoe can be a full day trip all in itself. This area offers tons of snow
skiing and casino gambling.
North of the Lake is the most scenic and best places worth staying.
Try Tahoe City, Tahoe Vista, and Truckee.
Plenty of skiing
& snowmobiling
up in this area.
- Trip alternates include visiting June Lake or Mammoth Lakes. Even heading further south on Hwy.395 to incorporate the 'Death Valley Loop' is an option if you have a few days extra.
- OR take Hwy.4 (check for road closure) west back over the Sierras. Bear Valley & Lake Alipne are the special stops along thsi route.
- The Sierra mountain pass on Interstate 80 is open the majority of the time, but sometimes chains are required. Places to stay along the way are in Auburn and Colfax.
