CARR FIRE 2018: Wildfire decimated the landscape recently, so don't be expecting a lush, green, pine forest. Some portions of the park may be inaccessible. As of 2020, the only water fall trail that is open is Crystal Creek Falls. Backpacking is not permitted due to backcountry restoration.

Campground Camping in this area is abundant. Dirt Roads, to the South of the Lake, cross the dam, and lead way up into a few primitive spots, the best campsites for rugged type vehicles. Even though the primitive spots aren't next to the lake, you will be greeted with the big rushing creek climbing down this steep canyon.
A large RV campground is also situated on the south shore @ Brandy Creek.

Oak Bottom Campground has walk-in campsites, some right down to waters edge. Park in a number of paved common parking lots. Bring your little wagon and wheeled cooler. Steel bear boxes are provided at this camp for food items. A few camp spots are a bit of a distance from parking areas and the lake area has some hills. Motorhomes have a decent level area to park, and set camp. Bare minimum facilities. Bathrooms, boat ramp. Popular with kayakers, mountain bikers and hikers.
