The most popular "Yosemite Gateway" is Highway 41 through Oakhurst CA - where Gold Country Hwy 49 starts here to run north into the Sierra Nevada mountains.
Oak Hurst is a small town that has done a complete makeover in recent decades. Growing the wide 4-lane highway for more tourists dollars and feeding the commercial frenzy! The masses that head to Yosemite daily can gas up here and get fast food fix. Plenty chain hotels on the main drag too. Starbucks has the best bathroom in town by far. (just a lil tip from DanaMite)
Whether you are headed to Bass Lake for some boating, the back roads for some stream fishing or the granite glacier carved Yosemite National Park, you'll most likely pass through this growing outdoor mecca. Food, gas, coffee & ice!
description: Small mountain community inside Sierra National Forest, on the way into Yosemite National Park. New homes & more Bass Lake recreation. Huge growth in population in last 20 years.
