Castella CA has perfect place for a picnic right here, along the Sacramento River. Shady parks & neighborhood streets make up this small riverside community north of Shasta Lake. Not quite sure this county park/campground/picnic spot is open for overnight camping; they may be retired campsites. No one around to ask either.
