Open, primitive camping is allowed on the dirt backroads inside the Plumas National Forest region, with a valid campfire permit.

This prime alpine elevation, NorCal forest is far enough out-of-the-way, that many do not venture this far from the urban centers along the west coast. However, RV travelers, seasonal hunters and fishermen all know this gem of a lake, and it is quite popular in winter months with snow trails and snowmobiles.
