Highway 198 climbs from Visalia, the agricultural lowlands of the San Joaquin Valley, past Lake Kaweah & up to the towering Sequoia trees in the western side of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Eventually, at its furthest north point, this National Park highway intersects with Kings Canyon Highway 180. Sierra Caves, Hume Lake, Kings Canyon and the Sequoia Groves, all readily accessible from this main paved Sierra route.
